About the Half Marathon Course

The Newport Resolution Run’s Half Marathon is the ultimate coastal challenge, combining scenic coastal paths with rugged trails for an unforgettable adventure. Starting at South Beach State Park's Day Use parking lot, the course follows the same route as the 5K and 10K, taking runners along the South Jetty trail and onto South Jetty Way. The stunning views of the Pacific Ocean and Yaquina Bay greet runners around 0.9 miles into the race. Continuing past the 10K turnaround near SE 35th Street, the Half Marathon heads further along SE 35th Street. Shortly afterward, runners take a right onto SE Leeks High Road, entering the Wilder Trails. Here begins the most challenging and rewarding part of the course: a 5.5-mile stretch of single-track trails. These trails test endurance and agility, winding through scenic and rugged terrain, immersing runners in the beauty of the Pacific Northwest. After completing the trail segment, runners return to the coastal path, retracing their route back to South Beach State Park. The final 200 feet offer an exhilarating descent to the shoreline for a dramatic finish on the sand. This Half Marathon offers a perfect blend of flat, fast stretches and challenging trail segments, making it a must-do for those seeking a memorable and varied running experience. Celebrate your accomplishment with an optional plunge into the Pacific Ocean at the finish!
