Explore the 5K course featuring scenic coastal views and an exhilarating finish.
The Newport Resolution Run's 5K course is a thrilling blend of speed and scenic beauty, ideal for personal records and coastal adventure. The race begins at South Beach State Park's Day Use parking lot, leading runners along the paved South Jetty trail. About 0.9 miles into the course, the views open up spectacularly as you reach South Jetty Way, where the Pacific Ocean stretches to the left and Yaquina Bay lies ahead. From there, runners continue along South Jetty Way toward the iconic Yaquina Bay Bridge, soaking in the serene coastal panorama. The course turns back just before the bridge, retracing its path towards South Beach State Park. As runners return, the final challenge awaits: a turn toward the shoreline for a dramatic finish on the sand. After crossing the finish line, runners can cool off with an exhilarating plunge into the Pacific Ocean. With a mostly flat and fast course, this 5K is perfect for achieving personal bests, with just a slight challenge in the final 320 feet as the route transitions to the shore.
