Prepare for the Cape

The 2026 run reminded us why we love the Coast: crisp air, stable trails, and unmatched views. While the Cape drains well, it still demands respect from your gear.

  • The January Lottery: 2026 was perfect, but we've seen everything from 60°F sunshine to misty sleet. Layering is your secret weapon.
  • Traction over Waterproofing: The trails hold up well in rain, but slick roots and a few soft sections (especially on Amanda's Trail) make trail shoes with decent lugs a smart choice.
  • The Comfort Kit: The run is only half the fun. Bring a warm change of clothes for the Yachats Commons potluck—it's the best way to celebrate the miles.
