Día de Los Muertos (DDLM) is a day in the year like no other. This deeply revered Mexican tradition provides a universal opportunity to celebrate our connection to loved ones passed on and the ancestors whose lives allowed ours to happen.

The DDLM Endurance Run celebrates the power of this tradition and each runner’s personal power and hard-earned endurance. Whether you're running in memory of someone or for your own personal challenge, this race offers a unique experience for everyone.

Location & Parking

The Dia de los Muertos Endurance Run will take place at South Beach State Park, Newport, OR, just south of the Yaquina Bay Bridge.

Free Parking: Available at the Day Use Parking lot.
Walking Distance: The start line is approximately 800ft from the parking lot.
Follow the signs to drop off items at the Nine Hole Disc Golf Course. Please note that no parking is allowed in the drop-off area; all vehicles must be parked in the Day Use Parking lot.

At the Dia de los Muertos Endurance Run, our Aid Station is more than just a pit stop—it's the heart of the race, where the course begins and ends. This isn’t your typical station; it’s a high-energy celebration filled with music, cheering, and endless support for runners. It's a true party atmosphere where volunteers and participants come together to keep spirits high and runners fueled!

As a volunteer, you'll be part of the fun, helping with:

  • Preparing food and drinks for runners
  • Handing out water and energy drinks
  • Keeping the party vibe alive with music and cheering
  • Monitoring runner check-ins at the loop

You can register through the "Register Now" button on this page or visit the official registration page.

In this endurance event, you run for the duration you’ve registered for (6, 12, 24, or 48 hours). The objective is to complete as many loops as possible within that time frame.

Each runner wears a chip on their bib, which records your laps every time you cross the timing mat. Large screens will display your lap count at the end of each loop in real-time.

The course consists mostly of flat trail, with a few paved sections. For more information on the terrain and elevation profile, visit our Course Page.

Yes, you can access your vehicle during the race. Many participants use their cars as personal aid stations or for naps.

Yes, hiking poles are allowed, though few runners use them. If they help with stability, especially if the weather is wet, feel free to bring them along.

Yes, there’s plenty of space near the race start for personal tents, and a large warming tent is also available. Space is allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.

We provide a large aid station at the start/finish area, stocked with food, drinks, and essentials. There’s also a warming tent, a drop bag location, and space for personal tents. Additionally, you’ll have access to your vehicle throughout the race.

Most of the course is on a flat trail surface, with minimal elevation changes. For a more detailed elevation profile, please refer to the Course Page.
